The Library was established in March 2003 with the University College, its parent institution. It has a collection development policy, which spells out the principles of selection, weeding and evaluation of the stock among others. The Library’s collection has grown from 1332 in March 2003 to 9044 volumes as of June 30, 2009 when the 7th academic year came to an end. This shows a yearly average increase of over 1200 volumes.
The Library receives copies of a number of periodical titles and is also a member of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH), a local network of libraries that subscribes to over 19000 volumes peer reviewed journals online. This is more than we could purchase on own our own. This has also made available to us information resources of the other institutions in the consortium.
The Library also subscribes to local newspapers such as The Daily Graphic, Graphic Business, Ghanaian Times, The Chronicle, The Mirror, The Spectator and Chronicle on Saturday
The Library’s collections are organized using the Library of Congress Classification Scheme (for classifying) and the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd Edition (AACRII) (for cataloguing).

Increasing the number of shelves from 36- to 90
Provide spacious accommodation for our specialized collections—Ghana Collection, Audio-Visual Centre. A Braille Centre is also in progress and will be accommodated here on completion
Plan for the employment of more Professional staff to help with rapid expansion of the Library (e.g. IT professionals to work at the Library)
